Injectable Fillers

JUVEDERM ULTRA XC AND JUVEDERM XC ULTRA PLUS:

All Juvederm products are hydraulic acid (HA) dermal fillers and are injected into the dermis. Each type of Juvederm adds volume and smoothes out wrinkles by replenishing natural HA that has been lost. Juvederm products are created using a process called Hylacross®, which makes it smoother and increases the predictability of results. There are differences between Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Ultra including the fact the Ultra Plus is a more highly cross-linked formula than Ultra, (providing a little more stability and viscosity) thus giving it an enhanced filling ability, is more stable, thicker and absorbs water to a greater degree. This also makes the Ultra formula a little more appropriate for finer lines, thinner areas, and shallower injections. Juvederm Ultra Plus on average lasts a little bit longer than the Ultra version. Typically Juvederm Ultra Plus results will last around one year, whereas Juvederm Ultra results last about 9 months to a year. Juvederm products are used in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines below the corner of the mouth.

VOLBELLA:

Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is the latest advancement in the Juvéderm® range of facial fillers, developed specifically for your lips and mouth area. It is a smooth gel that is injected by Dr. Terrasse physician, using an ultra-fine needle. It has been specifically developed as a smooth gel to give a soft, natural feel. The gel fills in lip lines and wrinkles while the hyaluronic acid within attracts and retains moisture, so results can last up to a year.

A study showed that 98% of people who had Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine reported that their lip appearance goals had been achieved; with results lasting up to 12 months. Typical testimonials to Volbella’s effects include patients stating that their lips look “beautiful again,” “lovely,” and “delicate fullness done just right.”

Following a Volbella Lip Injection, clients find they are able to return to their regular activities. Most will experience the height of swelling for 1 to 2 days. Following that, slight swelling may remain but is usually gone within 7 to 10 days. Tiny bruises may occur around the treatment site, but these are barely noticeable or are easily covered with makeup. A recommendation we make to all our clients in order to reduce bruising is to avoid blood-thinning products (i.e. aspirin, ginseng, fish oil, anti-inflammatory medications, and vitamin E) for 1 week before your Volbella Lip Augmentation. Clients with a history of cold sores are put on a short regimen of anti-viral medication.

BELOTERO BALANCE:

Belotero Balance® injectable gel is a prescription injection that is used to temporarily smooth out and fill in moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds as well as other moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles around your lips and mouth and is particularly useful in minimizing finer crinkles around the mouth and cheeks.

RADIESSE:

Radiesse is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. Once injected, it provides immediate volume and correction but continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA microspheres leaving behind only your own natural collagen. It is clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients and is FDA approved to mix with lidocaine, an anesthetic, to significantly reduce injection related pain.

RESTYLANE:

The Restylane family of products can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth, the nasolabial folds. Each is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to instantly, visibly reduce moderate deficiencies of volume in folds and creases of the face.

RESTYLANE SILK:

Restylane Silk has recently been approved for release in the United States and is the first and only FDA-approved product specifically designed for subtle lip enhancement and the smoothing of wrinkles and lines around the mouth in patients over 21 years of age. Restylane Silk is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid — a sugar that is naturally present in your skin. Like other areas of the face, the lips and skin surrounding the mouth show signs of aging. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. It is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these areas. That’s why it’s made of smaller, smoother particles than those used in other Restylane products.
